STATEN ISLAND, NY — Jenna Guarneri, founder and CEO of award-winning company JMG Public Relations, promotes her new business book, “You Need PR,” distributed by Greenleaf Book Group.
“You Need PR,” a guide to all things PR, provides instructions on how to create a media strategy.
Residents of Shore Acres said each business has an image they want to convey, but how it’s done may vary. Whether through a press release, statement or interview, good communication is what helps both promote a business and prevent crises, she explained.
A few years ago, Guarneri was the subject of a head-turning feature when, after watching her father survive a heart transplant, she sought to ease the struggles of patients battling under similar circumstances. As a result, JMG Public Relations has partnered with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey to distribute 55 “Comfort Blankets” to current heart transplant patients.

Guarneri’s book is aimed at both new and seasoned entrepreneurs alike and highlights tips such as how to lay the groundwork for a successful PR campaign, create press materials and grow the best possible angle and media presentation.
“PR has the power to transform a business and for venture capital-backed startups, it can not only help grow their customer base, but also drive more sales and future investment,” Guarneri said. “Being in the business of startups, I realized that start-ups don’t have the budgets to hire PR firms to help with their strategies. Today, just like small businesses, companies now have the resources they need to develop a solid public relations strategy on their own.”
JMG Public Relations, www.jmgpublicrelations.com, is headquartered in Manhattan’s Financial District. Guarneri opened it in 2015. Some examples of media placements are “Live with Kelly and Ryan”, “Chopped”, “The Today Show”, “Fox Business’ Mornings w/Maria”, “Business Insider”, and others.
And while the official book launch is Tuesday, May 10 on Barnes & Noble and amazon, the book launch party will be Thursday, May 11 at Coyote Ugly NYC, 233 East 14th St., Manhattan.
