In a statement Thursday, the county said it hired Christine Rush, whose role is âImprove public understanding of the many public services and offerings provided by local government. “
According to the statement, Rush will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening the presence of county government departments and supervisory board activities in media, social media and other platforms.
“This important role will ensure that residents of Saratoga County know where their tax dollars are being spent, understand the programs and services available to them, and are better informed about how the county is working on their behalf,” said the communicated. .
Rush has nearly two decades of public relations experience in state and local governments, and most recently served as Director of Communications for Saratoga County Clerk Craig A. Hayner.
âChristine brings with her invaluable experience in communicating with the public on behalf of government organizations,â said Todd Kusnierz, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “We look forward to seeing her improve and develop our communications strategy so that we can share news of the county’s work and investments with residents.”
Rush previously worked in the Saratoga County Clerk’s Office, the New York State Senate, and the following state agencies: Office of General Services, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Labor, and Executive Chamber.
When asked about Rush’s compensation, Deputy County Administrator Ridge Harris was inaccurate. He said she would receive “a competitive salary commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the post.”
The county’s contract with the Martin Group, formerly Gramercy Communications, has expired. Harris said the Martin Group remains under contract on an hourly basis as needed.
